About the event
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the first International Business Ethics Summit that will take place in the Vatican City, on the premises of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, on Friday, 9 June 2023, from 9:00am to 3:00 pm.
The Business Ethics Summit will be a one-day event organized in collaboration with Father Philip Larrey, Dean of the Philosophy Department at the Pontifical Lateran University, with the aim of proposing an overview on ethical and moral principles applied to the corporate environment.
The Summit will engage high profile international contributors including CEOs, representatives of the Vatican, academic lecturers, and the most relevant institutional stakeholders to share their visions on the issue of business ethics, through best practices.
The Summit brings to bear the most relevant thinkers of the Western and Eastern tradition and to explore how companies can be ethically led according to the guiding principle “from growth to prosperity”, which brings the concept of financial growth back into a holistic dimension aimed at the well-being of humanity.
The discussion will revolve around four main pillars:
Human Economy: When financial growth embraces an ethical approach, it is possible to create the conditions for collective well-being, activating virtuous circles that put the human dimension at the center of business. In this context, the positive effects of corporate policies affect the physical and mental health of individuals, thus contributing to social prosperity.
Climate Economy: Is it possible to combine economic growth and action against climate change? Companies are now called to rethink their activities in a sustainable key by designing climate mitigation policies to achieve the objectives of economic and social development, generate wealth and protect the planet.
Meta Economy: Despite the multiple benefits deriving from the integration of new technologies into our lives, their unregulated use can highlight their pitfalls and undermine user trust. To limit these effects, the use of digital assets cannot be separated from an ethical approach that regulates their role and emphasizes their positive impact for the community.
Impact Economy: Investing ethically means generating a return for the entire society: following the three guidelines: Profit, People, Planet, are the keys for starting new virtuous projects of sustainable development that involve investments with an ethical, social, and environmental matrix. Through social entrepreneurship and philanthropy, it is possible to balance profit and collective interest, guaranteeing greater well-being for all.
Your collective knowledge will inform four innovative case studies on how to implement ethical principles in the workplace. Through your participation you will help educate our next generation of leaders.
