Dearest Board Members and Supporters,
The year 2021 is a new chapter for We Do It Together with the announcement of the last stretch of our film, Women Stories, which we have been working on for the last few years. It is a feature film composed of six short film segments directed by a diverse and international group of women filmmakers. Here are the following segments we have filmed thus far: Elbows Deep is directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Academy Award-winner Marcia Gay Harden, Cara Delevingne, and Jasmine Luv. Unspoken is directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi and stars Italian actress Margherita Buy. Lagonegro is directed by Lucia Puenzo and stars Eva Longoria. Sharing A Ride is directed by Leena Yadav and stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Anjali Lama.
I am excited to announce that we have only two segments to complete - one is an animation segment and the other, a film segment to be announced soon. This past week, under the strict guidelines of COVID-19 safety measures, we had the pleasure of shooting Elbows Deep, directed by Catherine Hardwicke.
Though it was a long and challenging process to work through this pandemic, we never gave up. Now more than ever, according to the latest UN policy brief The Impact of COVID-19 on Women, gender inequality is still a very present reality. We remain far from the solution and this film is our way to continue fighting for change. I would like to thank the Board of Directors for believing in our film and providing us with the support we need to push through these difficult times. In particular, I would like to thank my producing partner, Lucas Akoskin, who never gave up on the project and has been supporting the endeavors of women filmmakers since the beginning. I would like to thank our Executive Producer, Carol Polakoff, who has been essential, especially at the beginning of the film's journey. I would like to thank Andrea Iervolino, who went above and beyond to make this film happen during these difficult times because he believed in the project and gender parity. Last but not least, I would like to thank each one of our talented directors, writers, and actresses who have contributed to the creation of this beautiful film. These stories are important to changing the paradigm for women in media. This film would not have been possible without your continuous support.
